Baby Time

Hello again!

I've been in the blogging mood, so I figured I'd give an update on Jeremiah.  I've spent the past few weeks noticing how the sweet little butterfly feelings have turned into full-out thumps inside of my belly.  To say that he is active really is an understatement.  I know that as he gets bigger, his kicks will get harder and I can't imagine ever getting used to this...that is why I'm glad pregnancy only lasts 9 months.

I have figured out his schedule already (this is an animated version but the active/asleep times are accurate):  he wakes up around 8:30pm, warms up for a few minutes, and starts his karate practice.  He has a kickboxing class that lasts from 10pm til...12am?  1am?  I have been waking up in the middle of the night, afraid to look at the clock and see how much sleep I'm losing, and I feel him bouncing around in there.  Sometime after 1am he falls asleep and doesn't wake up until around 10:30am, after Mommy has her coffee.  Then he practices facial movements such as sucking and smiling, of course, because he is a happy little boy, and moves his fingers and toes for a little while.  Mommy eats lunch at 12 and shortly after that while her food is digesting Jeremiah moves around, searching her womb and looking for where that noise could possibly come from.  He shifts from front to back and side to side, taking advantage of the whole amount of space he has in there.  Then he sits back and relaxes while Mommy goes to the gym and tries not to get too awful big, although if he had it his way she'd be a barn.  The more room in there for karate, the better, he says.  He likes to play a trick on Mommy by bouncing on her bladder while she struggles to run on the treadmill as she so easily used to do.  Mommy doesn't like that but it's okay because she knows it'll be worth it when she sees his beautiful face.  After the bouncing party, he snuggles up while Mommy eats supper and falls asleep til 8:30, when he wakes up and starts it all again.  I'm sure this pattern will last after he is born and I will be a walking zombie for the next year.  Thank goodness for coffee.  And by coffee I mean one cup of half-caf, half-decaf...you gotta live a little :)

It's a busy day for a little boy, but that's what little boys do.  Everyone has been telling me all about little boys but I was 4 when Michael (my brother) was born and I remember how little boys are.  I watched him grow up and remember distinctly things he did that were "little boyish".  I know I will be surprised at times, but I don't feel like I'm just gonna be walking in the dark with little Jeremiah.

The plans for Jeremiah's nursery are in the making.  The theme is going to be Noah's Ark, with an emphasis on the animals and how they came "two by two".  I have found his crib sheet and pretty much based his nursery off that.  My vision for his nursery is something light, airy, and comforting.  Light baby blue walls with a little light green, light red, light yellow...you get the picture.  My mother-in-law and I had a comical conversation as I was trying to explain what I envisioned to her.  I kept saying "bright".  My meaning of "bright" is light and airy...her meaning of "bright" is neon, in-your-face color.  She is right about the meaning but my line of thinking was that the sun would be shining into the room and the colors would be so light that it would be bright.  After about 20 minutes of deep discussion, we finally connected our thoughts and got through to one another.  She is such a wonderful quilt/anything else you want maker and I know her head is swarming with ideas, as is mine.  I can't wait to see what is in store for his nursery.

I have received a few gifts, including a bib that Lollee made and a bunch of clothes and car seat from a lady at work.  I have picked out my favorites so far and would like to share because...why not?  They're so adorable!

 Bib from Lollee

 Crocheted blanket from Aunt Lacy

Hand-me-down from cousin Kyle St. Clair

 Wall hanging from Oma

The next few are some of my favorites from a lady at work.  I can't get over the monkey feet.

 Or the monkey butt.

 Or the duckies.

Yes, he will be too cute.  We'll try to love him anyway.

This one says "my little sweet pea" with little sweet peas all over it.

 For next winter.

 For this winter.

For newborn Jeremiah...he will be so little!

For his first Easter (after church, when he needs to retire into something comfy after a long day of looking adorable)

 Little bunnies on the tootsies

With a tail.  Can't get enough of this!

Airplane outfit for when he's feeling adventurous.

Itty bitty sock for his little tiny feet...that is, if I don't chew them off first because they're so delicious!

I'm thrilled about what I have received so far and how our plans are coming together.  God has been so faithful to us thus far and I know He will continue to be as we get closer and closer to June 12 (or sooner, preferably).

My next doctor's appointment is this Thursday.  I'm so excited to have a check-up on Valentine's Day.  I get to go hear my little Valentine's heartbeat and come home and cook a yummy supper with my big Valentine.  Love is in the air...

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day and say a special prayer for those who are hurting on this "day for couples".

With love,

Hannah Elise

  1. You're right about that comical conversation. I still chuckle when I remember how long it took to get on the same page. I'd show you fabric lines and you'd say, "I like it, but it's not bright enough." I'd find something bolder and you'd say, "It's just not bright enough." I started picturing this three-ring circus under the big top. But then you'd show me photos of soft, sweet, sun-light washed nurseries! Goad we finally worked that out.

I just finished his Alphabet quilt wall hanging. I imagine it hanging over his changing table, or something. I know it doesn't go with your theme, but the colors will go great and he'll be learning something important. :-)

    Love,
    Lollee
