Getting close...

6 more weeks til we meet baby Jeremiah!  Well, if he comes on his due date, 5 more weeks and 6 more days!  My mother thinks I'll deliver about a week early and my mother-in-love thinks I'll go over my due date.  I hope they don't have a pool going without letting me in on it...

Everything is great here in baby world!  He pretty much is my world right now as I can't get away from him (even if I wanted to!)  Jeremiah is making it pretty hard to get comfortable at night.  I find myself waking up and rolling over at least 10 times a night, which, in case you haven't seen the size of my belly, is NOT an easy task.  My lack of abdominal muscles plus the 5 pillows I sleep with and the sheets and quilt all add up to make rolling over a super daunting task.  I am normally a side sleeper but I like to sleep on both my sides and Jeremiah is quite attached to my right side.  The position he is in is head down, butt sticking out at my belly button area, and legs and feet on my right side.  This is the best position because it means he is set for delivery (if he stays that way) but it's murder on my ribs.  Every time I try to lean over, he kicks.  Brad and I have started watching Duck Dynasty at night on our computer and "my side" of the bed is the side that makes me lay on my right side to face him.  Thus, I have had to resort to turning over and straining my neck backward to see the computer.  Yes, we could switch places, but his side is furthest from the bathroom and as many trips as I make a night it's not worth it.  Yes, we could switch sides and switch back before we go to sleep.  Easier said than done at 10:30 when we're both exhausted.  As painful as it's been, I do hope he stays in this position.  I don't want him to be breech or "sunny-side-up".  I also enjoy watching my belly shake and wave as he moves around and gets bigger and bigger.  According to various pregnancy websites, he weighs approximately 5 pounds right now.  That's my big boy!

His nursery is...well...I would say coming along but not really.  It is painted a pretty light blue and his cabinet is painted white.  The crib and changing table are the next projects on our list.  We are blessed to be able to use the crib Jeremiah's cousin Kyle used and the changing table was a nice "grab", as it was probably headed to the dump.  It's a perfectly good changing table, it just needs a little reinforcement from my toolbox toting hubby and sanding and painting.  The crib has chipped paint as well.  We have not trusted the weather the past couple of days but are praying it'll be pretty tomorrow so we can get those painted and have most of his furniture all set.  My wonderful aunt is letting me use the bassinet that three of my cousins, my brother and I all slept in as infants.  Being a first-time Mom, I'm not sure how long or if I will even use it but the idea of having him in our room without being in our bed is very appealing, especially for the first couple of weeks.

The only other big piece of furniture we need is a rocker/glider.  I am registered for one at each place I am registered to give a little choosing variety and I love both of them.  They are rocker/glider sets that come with an ottoman for my aching feet.  I just picture myself rocking my baby boy and I could cry.  My great-grandmother left me a rocking chair in her will and my dad told me that Bogey, his miniature schnauzer, has taken it over and I'd be heartless to take that chair from his precious baby.  One day he sent me a picture of Bogey sitting in it with his head on a pillow and asked me how I could be so cruel as to take that chair from him.  I told him that if I didn't get one, I'm taking the chair and the dog will have to just lay on the floor like he is supposed to.  Call me heartless but I pick rocking my son over letting a dog watch tv from a comfy chair.  I would have to get some kind of ottoman and a different cushion so I'm really hoping to get one of the ones on my registry.  :)

Here is what his nursery looks like right now:

Well, these clothes are no longer in the closet.  I have washed them and the other clothes we've gotten for him so far and they are all in piles on my dining room table at the moment.  I'm still trying to decide the best way to store the different types of clothing.  I welcome any suggestions!

I have a list of projects for my super-talented mother-in-love to sew, including a changing pad cover, diaper bag, bassinet cover, and bumper pad covers.  Yes, I am using bumper pads in his crib.  He will be just fine :)  I also have to come up with an outfit for him to wear home from the hospital and I need to ask his Aunt Lacy to crochet a hat and booties to match before she heads off to Africa for the birth of his cousin, Ellee, who is due five days before Jeremiah.

I will hopefully have another blog in a couple of weeks with an almost-completed nursery and pictures.  Until next time...
